Ready or Not turns every doorway into a decision. Whether you're raiding a powerful man's daughter's birthday party, clearing the halls of a hotel, or searching the backwoods of a twisted cult, you won't be bored. Smart teamwork, tactical tools, unpredictable suspects, and tense gunfights make every mission feel dangerous.

Ready or Not is one of those games where simply opening a door can make you nervous. Whether you're raiding a powerful man's daughter's birthday party, moving carefully down the halls of a hotel, or searching the backwoods of a cult, you will not be bored playing this game.

What impressed me most is how much the game makes you think about everything at once. You aren't just running around shooting whoever appears in front of you. You need to manage your team, watch entrances, use your tactical utilities, secure civilians, arrest suspects when possible, check corners, and constantly decide how you're going to approach the next room. When everything works together, Ready or Not makes you feel like you're actually leading a tactical unit rather than playing another standard FPS.

Your team is a huge part of that experience. Giving commands and figuring out how to approach a dangerous room adds another layer to every mission. Sometimes the smartest move is slowing everything down, getting your squad into position, using the right equipment, and letting the situation develop instead of immediately pulling the trigger.

The NPC dialogue also deserves some credit. There were moments where characters genuinely made me smile or laugh, while other interactions made me angry at the people I was dealing with. That personality helps make the missions feel like actual situations rather than a collection of shooting galleries. Some of the scenarios can also get surprisingly dark, which fits the atmosphere the game is going for.

Gunplay feels satisfying, and I enjoyed experimenting with different weapons and attachments. The weapon modification system is decent, but I wish it went further. For a game this focused on tactical preparation, a bigger selection of meaningful weapon customization options would have made building your loadout even more satisfying.

Ready or Not is at its best when a plan starts falling apart. A suspect does something you weren't expecting, shots suddenly come through a doorway, a civilian runs across the room, and within seconds you're trying to control your squad while figuring out where the threat is coming from. Those moments are where the game really shines.

It isn't perfect, and there are areas where I would have liked more depth, especially with weapon customization. But the atmosphere, mission variety, tactical gameplay, team management, and unpredictability kept pulling me back in.

If you want a shooter that rewards patience and makes you actually think before entering a room, Ready or Not absolutely delivers.

Pros

  • Tense tactical gameplay that rewards planning
  • Great mission variety and atmosphere
  • Team commands and utilities add real strategy
  • NPC dialogue gives missions personality

Cons

  • Weapon modification could be much deeper
  • AI behavior can occasionally hurt the immersion
  • Some missions can become frustrating when plans fall apart

Final Verdict

Ready or Not is easily the most fun I've had playing a game in a while. Every mission kept me engaged because I never knew exactly how things were going to play out, and I loved having to manage my team, use my tactical equipment, watch every doorway, and make decisions on the fly. Whether a perfectly planned breach went exactly as expected or everything suddenly turned into chaos, I was having a blast. The game has a few areas that could use more depth, especially weapon customization, but the tense gunplay, mission variety, atmosphere, and teamwork more than make up for it.
